As part of our OEM sheet metal fabrication services, UPFLOW recently completed the fabrication of a Custom Powder Storage Tank for an industrial powder handling application. The project required high dimensional accuracy, excellent welding quality, and a durable surface finish to ensure reliable operation in a demanding production environment.
Rather than supplying a standard storage vessel, the tank was fully manufactured according to the customer’s engineering drawings. Every fabrication step was carefully controlled to achieve precise dimensions, smooth weld seams, and consistent structural quality, providing a finished product ready for installation into the customer’s production system.
The customer required a Stainless Steel Powder Storage Tank capable of storing dry bulk powder while integrating seamlessly with downstream conveying and processing equipment. Because the tank would become part of a complete automated production line, every flange position, connection interface, and structural dimension had to match the supplied engineering drawings.
Our engineering team reviewed the fabrication drawings before production to verify manufacturability, optimize assembly procedures, and minimize production risks. This early engineering review helped ensure efficient fabrication while maintaining the original design requirements.
The manufacturing process began with material preparation using high-quality stainless steel plates selected according to the customer’s specifications. Precision fiber laser cutting was used to produce accurate components with clean edges, providing the foundation for consistent fabrication quality.
Each component then entered the CNC rolling and bending process to form the cylindrical body of the Powder Storage Tank. Accurate rolling ensured uniform roundness while maintaining dimensional consistency throughout the entire tank body.
After forming, experienced welders completed the longitudinal and circumferential welds using controlled welding procedures designed to minimize distortion and maintain structural integrity. Every weld seam was visually inspected and carefully finished to provide a clean appearance while meeting production quality standards.
Throughout fabrication, special attention was given to flange alignment, nozzle positioning, reinforcement structures, and support legs to ensure accurate installation during final assembly.
