Iron phosphate pneumatic conveying system project for customer

Iron Phosphate Mobile Pneumatic Conveying System Project for Industrial Customer

Project Overview

UPFLOW designed and manufactured four sets of UPFLOW-430 mobile vacuum conveying systems for an industrial customer, providing a flexible powder feeding and transfer solution for iron phosphate used in the customer’s industrial production process, with each unit configured according to the actual material characteristics, required conveying capacity and the customer’s need for movable equipment rather than a permanently fixed powder feeding arrangement.

The handled material is iron phosphate powder with a specified bulk density of approximately 0.7 t/m³, while the required conveying capacity is 1–2 tons per hour, and because the customer required the feeding equipment to be moved between different operating positions, UPFLOW developed the four UPFLOW-430 units with a mobile configuration that allows the equipment to be repositioned according to changing production requirements.

This project demonstrates how a customized Iron Phosphate Pneumatic Conveying System can combine material transfer capacity with flexible equipment positioning, providing an alternative to a completely fixed powder feeding system for industrial plants where operating positions or downstream production requirements may change.

Customer Requirements for Iron Phosphate Powder Handling

The customer’s primary requirement was to transfer iron phosphate powder at a production capacity of 1–2 t/h, while maintaining sufficient flexibility to move the feeding equipment according to different production arrangements.

The main technical requirements provided for the project included:

  • Material:Iron Phosphate
  • Bulk Density:7 t/m³
  • Required Conveying Capacity:1–2 t/h
  • Equipment Model:UPFLOW-430
  • Quantity:4 sets
  • Equipment Configuration:Mobile
  • Electrical Cabinet:Installed on the equipment support structure
  • Electrical Connection:Reserved aviation connector for customer power connection
  • Pneumatic Components:Integrated compact pneumatic control box
  • Air Connection:Reserved interface for connection to the customer’s compressed-air supply

Instead of selecting only a standard stationary powder feeder, the equipment arrangement was therefore developed around both the material conveying requirements and the customer’s need for operational flexibility.

UPFLOW also provides customized battery material powder handling solutions for lithium battery materials including cathode powders and other fine industrial powders.

UPFLOW Solution: Four UPFLOW-430 Mobile Powder Feeding Systems

Based on the iron phosphate characteristics and required production capacity, UPFLOW configured four 430 mobile powder feeding and conveying units, allowing the customer to use multiple pieces of equipment within the production area while maintaining a consistent system configuration.

According to the engineering drawing, the system incorporates an elevated receiving section, supporting frame, access structure, lower discharge arrangement and mobile feeding equipment, with the main equipment structure approximately 3983 mm in overall height and 1500 mm in frame width.

Because four units were required, using a consistent equipment design also helps simplify operation, equipment positioning and connection throughout the customer’s production area.

Mobile Design for Flexible Production Requirements

The mobile configuration is one of the most important characteristics of this project.

Unlike a fixed pneumatic conveying installation that remains permanently connected to one production point, the mobile powder feeding system can be repositioned according to the customer’s operating requirements, making it more suitable for production environments where different process equipment or feeding locations may require material supply at different times.

This arrangement gives the customer greater flexibility when organizing the production process while avoiding the need to permanently install an independent feeding unit at every possible operating position.

For this project, UPFLOW supplied four units using the same general configuration, allowing the customer to deploy the equipment according to actual production demand.

Iron Phosphate Conveying Capacity of 1–2 Tons per Hour

The iron phosphate used in this project has a specified bulk density of approximately 0.7 t/m³, while the required material transfer capacity is 1–2 tons per hour.

These parameters are important when configuring powder feeding and pneumatic conveying equipment because system selection cannot be based solely on the material name; bulk density, required throughput, conveying route, feeding conditions and downstream receiving equipment all influence the final equipment configuration.

UPFLOW therefore develops pneumatic conveying systems according to actual project conditions rather than applying the same equipment configuration to every powder.

For other industrial materials, system design may require different conveying equipment, airflow conditions, pipeline arrangements or feeding methods according to their individual material characteristics.

UPFLOW has also developed powder handling knowledge for other lithium battery materials, including Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LCO) pneumatic conveying systems and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) powder handling solutions.

Convenient Electrical and Pneumatic Connections

Because the equipment needs to be moved between operating positions, the electrical and pneumatic connection design also forms an important part of the project.

According to the project technical requirements, the electrical cabinet is installed directly on the equipment support structure, while an aviation connector is reserved so that the customer can connect the external power supply after positioning the unit at the required operating point.

The pneumatic components are arranged in a compact pneumatic control box, with an air-source connector reserved for connection to the customer’s compressed-air supply.

This integrated arrangement supports the mobile design by keeping the required control components together with the equipment and providing practical connection interfaces when the unit is repositioned.

Integration with Industrial Powder Handling Processes

A mobile powder feeding system does not necessarily operate as an isolated machine and can instead serve as the feeding stage of a larger material handling process.

Depending on the customer’s production arrangement, powder feeding equipment can be connected with pneumatic conveying pipelines, receiving equipment, process vessels, mixers or other downstream machinery, allowing material to move from the feeding stage toward the required production process through a controlled transfer route.

UPFLOW’s broader pneumatic conveying solutions are designed around material properties, process requirements, system scale and plant layout, rather than a single fixed configuration.

For a project such as this one, the mobile design provides additional flexibility when the material feeding location needs to change according to production scheduling or equipment utilization.

Project Result

UPFLOW completed four mobile powder feeding and conveying systems for the overseas customer, with the equipment configured for iron phosphate powder with a specified bulk density of 0.7 t/m³ and a required conveying capacity of 1–2 t/h.

By combining powder transfer functionality with a mobile structural design and integrated electrical and pneumatic connection arrangements, the project provides the customer with a flexible solution for iron phosphate feeding while allowing individual units to be repositioned according to actual production requirements.

More importantly, this project demonstrates UPFLOW’s approach to customized powder handling equipment, where material characteristics, required capacity, equipment layout and customer operating conditions are evaluated together before determining the final system configuration.

UPFLOW Customized Powder Conveying Solutions

UPFLOW provides customized pneumatic conveying systems, vacuum feeding systems, powder feeding equipment, big bag unloading systems, batching systems and other bulk material handling solutions for industrial customers worldwide.

Rather than selecting equipment only according to a standard model, UPFLOW evaluates material information such as bulk density together with required conveying capacity, plant layout and production process requirements before developing the equipment configuration.

This approach allows individual systems to be adapted to different industrial powders and production environments while providing suitable interfaces for upstream and downstream equipment.
